The Music School combines support from a teacher and an online platform: practice journal, playbacks, exercises, progress tracking and exchanges within a community of students and teachers.
We connect students and teachers who teach with our method and tools. Teachers work as independents; The Music School is not their employer.

Thanks to our level assessment system, all your past musical experience is valued and highlighted, whether guitar-related or not. Experienced guitarist? You keep progressing while filling gaps if needed. Coming from another instrument? You leverage your skills and theoretical knowledge.
Adults / Children
From age 9
Children's lessons follow the same progression path as adults, but pedagogy is specially adapted to their needs and expectations. For children even more than adults, the pleasure of learning, playing and progressing is essential over time. All network teachers trained in teaching children are experienced with this approach.

We designed a skills grid that gives you an idea of your progress, but also your possibilities and the different pieces you can play. This also helps you situate your progression against your goals.

A progressive, innovative method with real levels

Developed by music education professionals, it is the result of years of in-depth study
of established serious pedagogies, and the experience and reflection
of practitioners trained in our approach.
Progressive levels from beginner to advanced
Beginner level
Learning a piece from the first lesson.
Mastering tablature and chord diagrams.
Introduction to sight-reading.
Learning rhythm guitar with pieces from different musical genres.
Introduction to improvisation.
Intermediate level
Playing a piece cleanly in time from start to finish.
Solid knowledge of rhythmic notation, chords and improvisation.
Introduction to harmony (understanding what you play).
Interpretation, playing with dynamics.
Learning and playing a piece on your own from a score.
Expert level
Mastery of harmony: able to analyse and hear a melodic or harmonic sequence.
Comprehensive knowledge of scales/modes/arpeggios/chords.
Improvisation over Jazz chord changes.
Sight-reading at the instrument and by ear (sung solfège).
Four skill domains
Its division into 4 skill domains (Right hand, Melody, Chords, Theory/Sight-reading) is one of its
great strengths. Conventional teaching methods progress (at best) linearly from beginner to advanced.
The TMS method lets you advance in each domain according to your abilities.
Ex: You have an advanced right-hand technique but weaker chord knowledge?
You keep developing your strength (new right-hand techniques) while catching up on Chords.
That way, you progress constantly in every domain at each lesson!
Goal: Play!
Progress in the four domains is closely linked to playing pieces (chosen together
with your teacher). That's where knowing your level helps! From the different validated
skill milestones, you can use our library to see which pieces might suit you and how much work
they'll require.
Example: I want to play Shallow from A Star Is Born.
But do I have the level, or will I waste time getting stuck for an unsatisfying result?
Maybe I should keep progressing faster in the domains where I'm weaker and come back when I have the required level. That way you optimise your practice time!
Second example: I want to play a Pop-Rock piece but don't know what fits my level. Thanks to the library, I can search for pieces by level that match me.

Training and network:
We regularly offer free « Teacher Training » sessions under certain conditions (level, etc.). These include an accelerated one- to two-week module, followed by a test, to master our teaching method and our platform.
After validation, you can join the network The Music School: we facilitate connections with students interested in this approach. You remain independent; the lesson contract is concluded directly between you and the student. The Music School provides the method, tools and matching service, without being an employer.
